WHAT CAN YOU DO?

Beautiful Sunday y'all.
In my reading, journaling and reflecting today I came across something that I plan to incorporate this week that I wanted to share.
In any swirl of chaotic thoughts... you know those made up stories, scenarios that hurt our feelings, those future situations we create in our minds (yeah, those)... I am going to pause and ask myself:
What can I do to make myself feel safe right now?
I will also be using it during heightened emotions of fear, worry, doubt and anxiety.
When we feel unsafe, we get into fight or flight mode. Survival mode. Which creates us to move from an ungrounded place. To do things in impulse and reactivity that we might not actually want to do.
What are some ways to stop yourself and feel safe?
+ Breathe deeply into your body and say "I am actually safe right now"
+ Hold your own face and say "You are actually okay right now"
+ Choose a "safety song" and play it, something that reminds you that you are safe and calms you down
+ Write yourself a note in your phone's notepad that you can go back to read that will help you remember who you are and that you are okay
+ Do a self-care activity, whatever soothes you
+ Focus on gratitude and love
You have more power than you're probably giving yourself credit for. You CAN create safety. You are NOT stuck. You are the author of your story and your life. Those thoughts are not who you are and you can change them.
You're one decision from moving to higher ground. Make one promise and intention with yourself this week that is going to usher you into the direction you truly want to go.
YOU ARE ALL YOU GOT. I know we have loved ones and family and children and we form our dependencies on other people and wait for them to nurture and care for us (and if/when they do, that's beautiful)... but only we can truly save ourselves. I promise you. Rise to the occasion and save yourself every moment that you need to.
Have a beautiful week ~ SHANI
